The Local Church
Testimony of J.S.
As an airline pilot I found much time to read the Bible and books on the pursuit of God which included those by Andrew Murray, A.W. Tozier, and Watchman Nee's The Spiritual Man, as well as many others.
The first time I contacted the local church was during a two-day furniture touch-up class that was being taught by a Christian brother from the church in Dallas. Having grown up in denominations, Bible churches, and charismatic organizations, I was beginning to find the clergy system somewhat suspect. This instructor recognized my hunger, invited me to lunch and began to answer all my questions regarding Revelation 2:6. He introduced me to Miller's Church History and continued our meetings, bringing other brothers along as well. These included a brother who has been faithful to shepherd me in the Christian life. Hallelujah! The Lord, by His mercy, truly chose me before the foundation of the world to be conformed to the image of His Son that He might be the Firstborn of many brothers (Romans 8:29).
